MMSE-2®

Assess cognitive function in adults

Mini-Mental State Examination, 2nd Edition™

Assess and re-assess adult clients, ages 18 years and older, experiencing Alzheimer's Disease, dementia, or cognitive decline with one of the most widely used brief screening instruments for cognitive impairment. With three different versions available, select the version that best fits your patients’ needs.

  • Standard Version (MMSE-2:SV), 15 minutes to administer  -- a revision of the original MMSE with replacement of problematic items.
  • Brief Version (MMSE-2:BV), 5 minutes to administer -- use to conduct rapid clinical assessments and to screen individuals for large population studies.
  • Expanded Version (MMSE-2:EV), 20 minutes to administer -- includes two additional tasks, story memory and processing speed, that are more sensitive to changes associated with aging.

The red and blue forms include tasks such as recognition/recall, orientation to time and place, calculation, drawing, and story memory. Take the scores and monitor the severity of cognitive disturbance over time by comparing reliable change scores.

Translated into Many Languages to Help Clients Worldwide

Just as in the English version of the MMSE-2, the foreign language versions include all three options (standard, brief, and expanded), both blue and red forms, and processing speed scoring templates.  It may be used by physicians, medical students, psychologists, psychology technicians, nurses, student nurses, social workers, and trained research workers. No special equipment is required.
